Dade Moeller Senior Health Physicist Edward F. Maher is serving as Program Director for the highly-rated professional course “Radiological Emergency Planning: Terrorism, Security, and Communication” this summer in Boston as part of the Harvard School of Public Health’s Executive and Professional Continuing Education program. Maher’s participation continues the legacy of our Company’s namesake, Dr. Dade W. Moeller, who retired from Harvard in 1993 as Dean of the Office of Continuing Education. This is Maher’s ninth year as Program Director of this course.

Dade Moeller announces that its Human Resources Department Manager, Roshelle Pavlin, has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Benton-Franklin Chapter. Her duties will include championing the American Red Cross mission in the local community by ensuring sufficient funding, promoting community partnerships and good will, and developing ongoing leadership as part of the national organization. Pavlin also will be trained to assist during emergencies and/or disasters.

Judson L. Kenoyer, a certified industrial hygienist, has been named to the 2011 Fellow Class of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Vice President of Environmental Programs Mitzi Miller has received the 2010 “Assessor Choice Award” from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This award recognizes Miller’s “skills and contributions as an A2LA assessor.” Miller, a technical expert in the environmental field, has performed more than 100 laboratory assessments for A2LA since becoming an assessor in 1993.

Secretary and Executive Vice President William E. Kennedy, Jr., was re-elected as a Council member of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP). This will be the second term for Mr. Kennedy, who has been a Council member since 2004. The Council consists of 100 voting members who serve 6-year terms, and are selected based on their scientific expertise. Council members serve as individuals, not representatives of any particular organization.
Senior professional Barbara L. Hamrick has been named Secretary-Elect of the Health Physics Society, a nonprofit scientific organization whose mission is to promote the practice of radiation safety. Hamrick is a Certified Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] who has a Doctor of Law degree from Loyola Law School at Los Angeles.
The Missouri University of Science and Technology has selected Nuclear Engineer and Senior Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] Ali A. Simpkins to serve as a member of its Nuclear Engineering Development Board. In this role, Simpkins will provide recommendations and guidance on issues related to the well-being and growth of the University’s nuclear engineering program.
The American Board of Health Physics has selected Senior Health Physicist [radiation protection scientist] Jackson R. Ellis to chair its Part One Examination Panel. The 12-member Panel prepares the annual Part One examination, an important and challenging initial qualifier for health physicists seeking certification in the field.
