The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay for Life, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.
Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events.
For our fourth year participating in the Relay for Life of Columbia River, we were proud to assemble a team that we called the “Magnificent Dades” in honor of our beloved namesake and “father” of our company, Dr. Dade W. Moeller, who passed away in September 2011 from complications due to malignant lymphoma.
Our team of 7 Dade Moeller employees from the Richland office took turns walking around the track at Southridge High School in Kennewick, Washington, from 6:00 p.m. on June 8 to 12:00 noon on June 9, 2012.
Together, the team raised a total of $3,243.78 in donations for the American Cancer Society. This amount included direct donations made by and to our team members, as well as funds raised at events the team organized at the Richland office throughout the month of May, including:
- Change for Hope Penny Drive — $116.78 raised
- Magnificent Fiesta Lunch* with 4-Card Bingo — $350.00 raised
- Silent Bake Auction — $267.00 raised
- Silent Auction** — $1,530.00 raised
