Waste Management Services

Dade Moeller offers waste management services. We have subject matter experts that provide a full scope of services from program management to certified shippers and waste designators, program assessments, procedure and procedure development, and staff augmentation. We have managed, and work closely with, waste treatment subcontractors who provided waste processing from simple volume reduction and storage for decay to difficult to handle waste resulting from the remediation of large-scale mixed hazard waste burial grounds.
Waste

We possess health physics services and waste broker’s radioactive materials license, issued by Washington State (WN-L-0232-1) and a radioactive materials license, issued by Maryland (MD-31-244-01), which authorizes packaging, preparation for transport, decommissioning and decontamination, emergency response at client facilities.

Dade Moeller possesses a wide range of capabilities and experience in the area of on-site radioactive and mixed waste management and transportation services; including, but not limited to the following:

  • Day-to-day hands on program management
  • Waste characterization and designation to meet 10 CFR 61, 40 CFR, and/or DOE Order 435.1 requirements • Radioactive laboratory services
  • Disposal facility selection, per LLW Compact requirements
  • NORM/NARM and exempt concentrations waste disposition •
  • Waste minimization program development and assessments, including

    • Chemical substitution and exclusion of potential hazardous chemicals from waste streams o Material exclusion (packing materials, etc.)
    • Reduce consumables (increase use of launderable or dissolvable items)
    • Re-use where practical
    • Optimize waste processing
    • On-site processing where practical and authorized by licenses and permits
  • Training
  • Waste management and minimization practices in compliance with 10 CFR 61 (or DOE Order 435.1), 40 CFR, waste processor, disposal facility and low-level waste compact requirements
  • Management and disposition of manufactured radioactive sources
  • Waste brokerage
  • Quality (e.g., audits and surveillances)
